Hiya people.....This is my first post! I have a 12 month old buttercup kakariki which i bought from solihull, a few weeks later i bought a cinnamon pied hen from wales. My aviary is 12x6x4, i also have a pair of java sparrows, a pair of diamond doves and a pair of Linnie's. all which were purchased after kakarikis. There is no fighting at all they all get on well!! Anyway Introduced the pair everything went well, The cock was a bit aggressive, He'd chase her away from food and off certain perches. I put one nest box in to start off with and the hen would roost in there at night, but in the day if she went in the box the cock would chase her out. So i decided to build another nest box. I put the nest box in everything went well for the first day, then he started the same thing with that nest box. They since started mating, he started feeding her, and Tuesday just gone she laid her first egg!! Two days later i checked the boxes again and she had laid the second egg in the other box So i decided to put the first egg in the box with the egg she laid last, so they are all in one place. No matter which nest box she goes in the cock chases her out. So this morning i decided to put the cock in a treble breeding cage, which is in the aviary. Have i done the right thing here guys?? Did i do the right thing by moving the first egg with the second?? Will she sit these eggs?? Thanks for reading.
