It is a good idea to de-worm Cockatiels and Australian Parakeets now, just prior to the start of the breeding season (March for UK), especially to stop their chicks being infected.
If you are relying on water based medication for this purpose, choose a dry and preferably warm day when treating the birds. Otherwise they are likely to drink droplets of rain water instead, because of the bitter taste of the medicated water. They will then inhest less of the drug, with the end result that they may not take in enough medication to eliminate all the roundworms in their gut.
Catching and dosing each bird individually is a much more reliable means of treatment, but this needs to be carried out with care to aviod the risk of choking them. If you have not done this before, it would be very wise to have them treated by an avian vet instead.
