Are they alright living together. I almost bought a pair of pretty finches for my avairy the other day, but then i thought best ask the Birdcrazy Crew if they are gonna be okay with the Kak's and Budgies. The kaks and budgies do okay together, as the budgies are quicker than the kaks. I have not seen any fighting at all, and I fancy a singing canary, well a pair, as i would not just have one on its own..or a pair of crested finches. or both. Also how hardy are they? as the cold nights are comming here in the Uk

I can see the budgies getting along with the kakarikis because my conure and tiel got along with them.... But there is a risk if Finches and Canary's are in with the kakarikis... The kakarikis will imitate the finches and canary's. The kakarikis and budgies can be together. And the finches and canary's can be together but not with the kakarikis... I'm not sure about budgies and the smaller guys together And the budgies, finches and canary's will freeze in the cold, they should be inside, even the kakarikis.. Smaller birds can't take the cold than the lager ones. This is what I think...

The problem might occur between the budgies and the finches & canaries, not the kakariki. Kaks love everything. Your aviary might be big enough that the finches and canaries can keep out of the budgies' road. I don't know how the finches & canaries will go during your winter - if they are natives they might be okay. Budgies are okay for a certain temperature, we've recorded about -7 degrees celcius during winter a couple years ago and they just huddled closer together. Kakariki's are fine as they are from a country that gets alot of snow in winter time. They are a hardy species. I would try and protect them from the really chilly winds of course as they can make anything ill.

Ive had kakas finches and canaries all together. Kakas are good with anything apart from the parrots that will hurt the kakas

iv'e got a 10,foot by 8, avery. and Iv'e had 8,budgies. 2,canarys, and 2, zebra finch, and a quail. all in the same avery. and they were fine. Iv'e never seen any of these breeds get nasty with each other, not once. I also have a bleeding heart dove, and a pair of diomand doves in the same avery and they have been fine. they are always talking to each other.
