1. My female parakeet, Bella, seems generally unhappy and is attracted to "tents" like when I cover her and Vincent up at night she runs over and tries to get closer to the blanket. Personally I'm thinking she wants a nest...any thoughts? I really don't want her to have eggs because there's the possibility of egg binding plus she'll practically live in the nest box. To top it off, it seems like half or more of the babies always die I don't have ANY experience with babies except for the one time I took care of a friend's for a week. The mama bird was SO skinny and unhealthy looking--I just don't want Bella to be like that. But then again she seems somewhat unhappy... 2.Is there any way to get email updates for threads and such on this forum? 3. What sort of hair care products do you use? I've never used anything except shampoo and conditioner for fear that the scent of hair spray or gel would kill my babies. I was thinking about getting my hair cut in a way that I would have to style it but I don't want to use anything that could harm my birds Any advice is welcome! Thanks~

Don't be afraid of using hair care products. Make sure you use any sprays etc. in the bathroom (with the door shut!) and your birdies should be O.K. Obviously if you have hairspray or gel on your hair then don't let they preen it for you.

They're called Happy Huts. I don't know if trying to get near the blanket is her tryin to nest I think it's just a security thing.

Biggles, likes his fluffy one, Kaeci likes his nesty one, Budgies like rat tubes, and nesty ones. Kaks like everything! Boy are they are all so fussy! Heres a great Ebay store , well priced, helpful and prompt delivery. Different ones to choose from, and check the small pets part too. stores.ebay.co.uk/Surepets-LtdMy Sprays and other products are away from my birds and dogs, they are pretty potent in the air.

For me i Threw out all my Hairspray and nailpolishes and things that would harm my bird. i agree with others above. They are called happy huts but just make sure that you do check for any loose threads as they have some hazards and your bird could hurt itself it gets caught. If your going to use Hairproducts like sprays or gel i agree what has been said dont let them preen or put there beak in your hair or touch it. You dont want them to get sick since they preen themselves and they use there beak and feet to get around and eat.
I dont know about getting updates i think you have to ask a administrator or a Moderator
