this is posted on bbc, please give any advice you can! I accidently stood on my budgie about 5 minutes ago. He was on the floor and I forgot about him then when I got off my bed I stood on him .I think I broke his back because he lays on his front and cant lift him self up, he can move his feet and wings because he trys to fly. My closes avain vet is about 2 hours away and I dont think he will survive the trip and plus my parents arent going to take me in at this time of night 10:40 pm if its a 4 hour trip plus about 1+ hours being there. He is my only tamed budgie and he is 9 weeks old. HELP NEEDED!!!

Hi BuuZbee
I'm so sorry to hear the news - I'm no expert, but it sounds to me as if you really do need to get him to a vet as quicky as possible. I realize it's late, but don't see that you have much alternative in the circumstances. You said that your nearest avian vet is 2 hours away, but do you have a general vet who is any closer? It certainly couldn't hurt to give them a call. In the meantime i would suggest trying to keep him as quiet as you can. Do you have a box (perhaps a shoe box) that you could put a soft blanket in? It may be a good idea to try to immobilize his wings as well so that he doesn't do any further damage to himself. Just a very light bandage should be enough - not an elasticated one if you can avoid as this might tighten and restrict his breathing. I wish you were in the UK as I'd drive you there myself. In the meantime I will be thinking of you - the very best of luck and please don't hesitate if there is anything I can do.
Take care
Ellen

Hi Angela
It looks as if she's in California, but not sure if it was from BuuZbee or on behalf of someone else - if she was anywhere in the UK I'd have got in the car and driven her to a vet myself.
Fingers crossed for them - they'll be in my thoughts

No ... it's Buuzbee who lives in California .... the budgie belongs to somebody else. Buuz has posted this message on here but read about it on bbc.
I think that's it anyway ....
Just had a look on bbc and the budgie is in Cornwall.

Looking at the time on the post it might possibly be somewhere in the UK - if we do find out where it is & there is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask.

Perhaps not in pain, as there is probably no feeling at all, but terrified most certainly. I would certainly be making sure this bird is put to sleep immediately

That's awful and so sad - has there been any more news? My brother stood on my budgie when I was younger and he died in my mum's arms, shortly afterwards. It was horrific seeing him in pain like that. I'll never get over it, he was such a little darling and so tame. I didn't forgive my brother for a long time! Edit: oh, sorry didn't notice the date on the thread

This post is going back a bit. If I remember the post on the Budgie forum the bird died after around 5-6 hours.
