Thanks for all the advice, and the nipping the ears and neck would of been nice to know sooner, as this morning I am sporting a nice little vampire bite on my neck LOL.
My husband (who claims to hate birds) has taken a likeing to this one and thinks it's the best bird we have. (Nevermind that we have a tiel that doesn't bite and like head skritches) Men, go figure.
I think I'm gonna have my work cut out ahead of me.

I got a Green Cheek Conure last friday from a family that claimed they only had it a month and the daughter was allergic. It wasn't in the greatest conditions (long story). His/her name is Baby. Baby will come out of the cage for me but will immediately crawl up to my shoulder, and it's a real challenge trying to get him off, can anyone off me any advice as to how to keep him on my arm or hand, till I get him a little more tame and trust him more? I've tried the putting my other arm up and stopping him but he will jump over my arm and continue up my shoulder.
Any and all advice would be appreciated. He will let us give him head skritches through the bars of the cage, but I haven't really tried out of the cage yet. When I went and looked at him he clamped down on my hand "4" times the little vice grip. Since I brought him home, he hasn't bitten me but on Easter my sister in law came over and he was on her shoulder, she made a kinda a kissing noise and he bit her HARD right by the lips (that is why I am leary of him on my shoulder) any advice to how I can trust him more, and keep him off my shoulder for the time being would be appreciated.
His breeder band says 2005 so we are guessing he is just over a year old or 2 years old. The lady said she got it from a pet store, but I have no idea how long it was at the pet store or anything.

Ty Sal I can safely say that me and my girls are already head over heels in love with her, even my husband (who doesn't care for birds) will talk to her and pick her up and try to pet her.

Hello all I just brought home my Lutino tiel last thursday, she is super sweet, was hand raised and is very tame and loving. She is 11-12 weeks old. The only bahavioral issue we are currently having is when she is perched on our hands once in a while she will decide to chew on our fingers, pretty hard sometimes. I'm not sure if this is because she is soo young or because she was hand fed and maybe telling us she is hungry? Either way I'm trying to figure out ways to correct this. Here is her picture if I can figure it out.....

LOL yep I get the same exact treatment, I only have one tiel though, I couldn't imagine trying to fight off 2 while trying to type. They are sooo precious aren't they? Tiel's have totally captured my heart.
And I have only had Miss Daisy for 2 weeks since yesterday.

That is sooooo cute, I can totally relate with the keyboard, it never fails if I am at my computer Miss Daisy is trying to help me type and fighting me over the mouse.
Pretty soon people are gonna think I'm either a really bad speller or that I can't type. LOL

This is Miss Daisy's Favorite spot when she isn't on my keyboard.... Don't let the innocent look fool you, she can be quite the character And this is her way of trying to sneak up on the keyboard and mouse to make it difficult for mommy to try to type, she will even sleep on my keyboard, she prefers the backspace button.

I am sooooooo happy, my Miss Daisy just let me give her head scritches for the first time, and I just got her Last Thursday. My daughter was talking to her on the back of the couch and she asked my the bird kept putting it's head down toward her, so I gave her some head scritches and she just soaked it in, and still asked for more when I stopped. I know I know I'm excited about scratching a birds head but what can I say I'm in Love.

Unfortunately my husband isn't that easy to trick. He was actually doing very good with Miss Daisy till she started her chewing thing, now he has nothing to do with her because he doesn't trust her.
I swear he has absolutely zero patience. Thats ok it just gives me more time with her. Even though she still flies on his shoulder he will look at me and say will you come get her, I don't trust her.
Go figure a big beefy man who works on cars and gets all dirty and greasy and has absolutely no fear of dogs (we have a great dane) that can tear limbs off, he is gonna be afraid of this tiny little cockatiel.
I have to give him credit though, I think he is afraid that he will tap her on the head or something if she does bite him and he KNOWS if he does that he would be in serious trouble with me.

thankyou all, and yes I could sooooooooo easily get another tiel with the way this one has completely stole my heart. But I have a hubby that is quick to put a curb to that right away LOL it took me a while to convince him of letting me get this one. But hey a few years down the road, or is someone just GIVES me a tiel, I'm sure he couldn't complain then LOL.

Thank you everyone, this board seems very great, and I think I will enjoy it here. It also looks like there is tons of information out there just ready to be learned.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
