I have been researching about cockatiels and I might be adding one o my flock in about a month or so, My birthday is April 15th so probably sometime around then. I was wondering if cockatiels and budgies would get along. I have 6 budgies. I know never to house them together. Can they be let out at the same time and play together or is it a bad idea? Anything else that you can tell me would be awsome, you can never know too much about birds.
Thanks~ Melissa

Its very true that you cant house them together but playing together depends on the birds, my tiel is quite placid (except towards me) and gets on quite well when let out with the budgies to play but its the budgies you need to watch. If supervised closely i cant see a problem with it but if you do get one, get it mind that it might not be an option to let them out together if they dont get on Hope this helps

Supervised play time is fine. As Sal said, it's the budgies to watch out for! Tiels are very placid, and will let a budgie peck them! Definately they get bullied by budgies. But, mine all get free flight together, I just never leave the room
