Greets to all! I'm a newbie to the forum. I'm glad to see some lorikeet action around here, we are sadly under-represented on most forums. Here's a shot of my 10 yr old male green-nape, Milo. Playing in the flowers, how cute.. He's laying in my hand of his own free will! You can't see it in the shot, but my thumb isn't even holding him. He likes to be on his back and to be tickled on the tummy. While I'm here, I have a question for ya: Who else has a lorikeet with a foot-fetish? My bird will attack bare feet visciously, and he REALLy likes tennis shoes (with laces). I thought this was a result of letting the bird play on the floor too much, but I recently read that this is very common amongst lorikeets! cheers, Marzi

Oh isn't he gorgeous! I have 3 of the little angels, and I enjoy pretending I am the boss of the household. None of mine do that to my feet, although last night Her Royal Highness Skittles tried to make love to my feet (she's in egg laying mode at the moment!)
Please post lots of pictures and stories - these birds are such clowns I know you have a never ending supply of stories!

thanks everyone.
Lin: Do you cage your lories together? Are they all similar ages? What sexes?
I ask because I'm about to adopt/buy a friend for Milo. Any advice would be great.
Thanks Marz

At the moment, they are all in different cages. Skits was my first one, she was handraised and is overly dependant upon people. So, I got Lawrence for her, hoping for a male. Unfortunately not only is Lawrence a female, but she also has beak and feather disease, so is housed seperately, and always will be. Next I got Studley, again in the hopes of a male. I just took pictures last night, will post later today, of what I hope is proof that he really is male. So, when the weather cools down, I might pop those two out into the aviary together and see how they get along. No idea on ages, all are probably at least 1, as they have the orange beaks, Skits was a rescue bird and is probably about 5, but that's all I know
I just don't have a large enough cage inside for keeping 2 together, and Skittles has killed a male (at her previous home) before, but I firmly believe it was due to severe neglect that nature told her that she had to do this.
Advice would be like I would say with any bird - be prepared for them to not get along and have to be housed seperately (unlikely, but possible).
