hi all i have a indian ringneck and am getting a rosella on wed (cant wait). just woundering how big should their cage be? i am buying a parrot cage with my new bird on wed they are being deliverd together, the shop say its big enough for an african grey, but i know my rosella likes to spread his wings. if i could i would not have them caged and let them fly free but as we know this is not feesable. will my new cage be big enough for the both of them? also giving them the space they need? jo

I wouldn't advise putting a IRN and a Rosella together.. Is the Rosella hand raised?

i was hoping to put them togehter yes, i got my rosella this morning and the cage comes this aft, the rosella is semi tame and they have had the run of the living room all morning, they seem to be getting on fine even eating together. i do have my ringnecks old cage still just in case. is there a reason i shouldent have them together? the rosella is a lot bigger than my ringneck. what do you advise?

If you need to know how big a cage has to be for a certain bird... If the birds wings don't touch the sides of the cage when they're open then that is a good size. Also...If the tail doesn't hit the end of the cage then that is a good size cage...Does that make sense

I think it depends on alot if your birds are out most of the time when they are awake and they only use the cage for sleeping then it doesn't really matter if the cage is small but if they have to live in it while your at work then the cage should be as lare as you can afford I just bought 2 new cages 1 for my Amazon and 1 for my Grey I'm on disability so I was home all the time so my birds only sleped in their cages. Now I just got a part time job 3 days a week 6 hours a day so I bought them very large cages 1 is 32 x24 x52 and the other is 36x24x64 and my cockatoos cage is 40x36x64 so now that they have to be locked up when I go to work they have tons of room to play and I don't have to worry that they are going to get into something when I'm not there to watch them. Greys are usually very nervous about new thing so I have to introduce her to her new cage slowly. its working though I put her favorite food in the big cage this morning and she went in and ate it. so I think tonight when I go to work she will be ready for her new cage. I also don't think its a good Idea to house the birds in the same cage you may come home to 1 dead bird Pat
