hi, i love my tiels too i have a breeding pair and they bred once, i pulled the 2 babies because they stopped feeding them, and i am trying to get them to breed and they won't. am i doing something wrong? do you have any advice for me? i stiil have their babies and the only difference i think is the pair were originally in with other cockatiels when they started breeding. i see him mounting and mating but no eggs come up anywere? and they bred about 5-6 months ago? email me at jjag14210@hotmail.com, it is my first time using a chat thing and easier to just check my email out of here.

There are many factors that impact on the breeding cycle - light, access to sun, food stuffs, access to calcium, enough fresh foliage, water, noise - if they stopped feeding was it because they didn't have enough food. Newbies sometimes don't realise that they eat four or five times their normal feed when feeding chicks.
I would have to see your set up and know about their lifestyle - how much flight time they get each day etc.
Cheers,
Kate

the only difference is i originally had them in with 4 other birds once they started breeding i put the other 4 in a nearby cage, i had to seperate them because they were getting aggressive with the other birds, they are on same diet of seed, pasta and veggies as before and after the breeding, i've tried removing the nest box and i still have no luck in them breeding.they are in the same spot as tey have always been, they are let out of cage as they always have. they get let everyday from 9am to about dark. most of the day they fly where they want and they have a large enough cage. we have a new female but has never been with them in a cage. and he shows no liking to her. should i put all 6 back together in a cage together? or should i try to seperate the two or switch the 2 females? thanks, joe

Most countries have a Parrot Society of some description that have online access to bird feeding schedules and other information. In Australia it is called Parrot Society of Australia, don't know what other countries' societies are called sorry. Try craigslist too.

hi i love them to, well anything with wings really. hubby and me use too bread budgies and mum and dad use to bread cockatiels and as it has been said-many factors why yours are not laying. just a thought could even be the placement of nest boxes, have had this before and put in more nest boxes in different places and it seemed to work. always make grit available. i also grow my own spinage for my chickens and give daily hope this helps.
