My Rainbow lories have finally bred this year with 2 eggs and 2 bubs hatching successfully. I have now taken them and been handraising for almost 2 weeks now. They are right royal little pigs when it comes to food. Much easier than IRNs lol. Here they are from day 1 to present..... 1 day old 7 days old 11 days old 3 weeks 2 days old and this was taken yesterday at 4 weeks and 4 days old Also a link to a video I took of them yesterday..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUnEpq0tqwEhope you enjoy looking.

Unfortunately they already have homes to go to Both people had dibs on the bubs since last year but they didn't breed for me last year. I really, really, REALLY wanted to keep one being my first lorri born but no go. The good thing is they won't be going too far. One is to a guy in the next town, only 40 min drive, the other is going to Shanes' (B/F) mother, so I can definately see him/her when ever I can visit when ever I want! They are the easiest bird that I have reared....not that I have that many breeds to go on....only handraised IRNs so far lol

Looks like I may have to get the camera out again.
I just can't believe how fast these little guys are growing everyday.
I looked back on the photos that I posted and when I turned to look at the little sweeties just now, they have almost doubled the feather growth!!!!

Thanks Laurie, This is my first season that these pair bred. I had them for almost 2 years. Not sure why they didn't breed last year for me though. I have only handreared ringies before and compared to them, these guys are a breeze. Eat food when offered. Although I have found mine like the formula to be on the hot side of the allowable food temps. If the food falls below their "temp limit" they turn their beaks up at it until it is hot again lol. Fussy, spoilt little beggers

well I am totally smitten with them & just gave you your first karma point ..are they quieter than the IRN? I hate to bomb you with oodles of questions, but I am addicted to color & they are so flashy! my mind is twisting & turning with the notion I need me a couple are they a messy bird to clean up after? I used to know several people that had them & at the time I was more informed but now, heck that information I had lol has left me..

Awww thanks for the Karma points laurie, you were my first! lol No probs with the questions, I will try and answer them lol. YES definately messy......well I would say more "squirty" than anything. lol These little sweeties have, at times, very horozontal, wet projectiles lol. Carpet sucks up their waste like a sponge lol As for noise levels....well if you don't like to sleep in the mornings and don't mind their evening chatter, then they aren't too bad lol. I think they could be a bit louder than a ringie. Here is a link to rainbow chatter. Number 33 on the list. Just imagine that sound but LOUDER lol They love their fruit and do make a bit of a mess with it. But I can ignore the "squirtiness, loudness, and messy eating habits coz I just love 'em. Oh wait till they have grown a bit more and have much better developed personalities.....thats when I got to have my camera ready.....
