Laura!.
I'm 26 and live in South Australia. I was invited to join this forum by another member via www.fancy-rats.co.uk and decided to come and investigate this birdy site. I used to breed budgies and tried breeding cockatiels(But some twit pinched my cockbird...GRRRR)and breifly had a pair of homing pigeons but all I have now is a lutino cockatiel called Carmen(After the opera)and a Rainbow Lorikeet called Sparky.
I had been after a tame Rainbow Lorikeet for months after meeting a lady in Melbourne who had one as a pet and seeing them fly wild by the hundreds near my home and finally found one via a Cage Bird Club Of Victoria Display at the Caulfeild Pet And Animal Expo where I was at the Rat And Mouse Association Of Victoria Inc display in February. I got talking with a guy while standing in line with a friend who wanted to talk to the guest celibrity vet and the conversation got around to me wanting a Rainbow Lorikeet. He said that his Mum had one for sale and I said if she was willing to fly it interstate I would buy him. So after several conversations and exchange of money Sparky came to live with me. He says 'Hello Sparky', 'What Ya Doin?', OH!! and 'Hey Baby' and now I'm trying to teach him to mime this farting ringtone I have on my mobile phone. It's taking a bit of getting used to having a bird with liquid poo (Especially when he does one on my head and it dribbles down the side of my head...YUCK!)but resally it's not really a big issue). I haven't any photos of Sparky or Carmen at the moment because my digital camera batteries went flat but I promise I will post some next week!.
My knowlege lies in Budgies,Cockatiels and Rainbow Lorikeets. I'd really like to correspond with someone who knows about these birds. Especially Rainbow Lorikeets!
