hi to every one i found this site through an advert in my local paper and thought i would see what its all about !!!! i have an African Grey named max he was given to me by one of my customers i am a barber by trade hence the fact that i can chat for england!!! max was 3 years old this march and he was given to me on 28th June 2006 he is lovely but is taking his time getting know me, but i am persistant and he is coming round slowly but surely!!! he talks a lot, mainly in my dad's voice he loves my dad's voice and repeats every thing he says within a couple days, my dad is Italian so max speaks English and Italian words!!! i have never had a DNA test to see if max is a male or female but am starting to wonder if he may be a she, would love to hear from any one who has some advice on how to get max to trust me a bit quicker!!! he won't stand on my hand unless he has landed some where that he is not comfortable with, and then comes to me. he very rarely comes out of his cage unless i tease him with peanuts !!! he allows me to tickle him but only by putting my hand though the feed openings but when outside of the cage i can't touch him !!! any how i'll keep trying and maybe as time goes on he will trust me more. thanks for reading !!!!

Hi barber & welcome to Bird Crazy! What a clever bird to speak in 2 languages! I can't even get my budgie to talk in 1! Boomberry here currently has a grey, she may have a tip at how to get him to trust you. In my experience with birds though, it's best to let them come to you and not force the issue. It takes time but then they get used to you on their terms so they feel more confident.
