Hi gang - Mr Tickles (aka Boozy Budgie) had surgery this morning to remove a tumour that had grown, extremely quickly, on this bum. Because of the location of the tumour, and the fact that his cere had changed colour, we were initially worried that he might have had testicular cancer. Fortunately, although large, the tumour seems to have been confined to the outside wall of his abdomen. The vet has sent a biopsy away to confirm what it was in case there is a chance of it reoccuring. I was really worried about putting him through surgery, but didn't really have a choice due to the location of the tumour. If I had left it, it wouldn't have been long before it began putting pressure on the nerves in his legs, and he would have been crippled. So far so good, he's come through surgery, and is eating and tweeting contentedly. Fingers crossed he gets through the night and then I'll feel a bit more confident ...

Thanks guys - the good news is that he made it through the night, and is back to trying to bite me every time I put my hand in the cage He does still look a bit sore, but that's definitely to be expected after what he's been through. Fingers crossed that it's all uphill from here

Good news on the Tickle-Monster He's doing really well, and actually went back into the main aviary today He was sooooooo chuft that he completely forgot to bite me when I put some veggies in The vet said that his stitches should disappear in about 3 months, and the biopsy results showed that the tumour wasn't malignant, so fingers crossed things are looking good my little man-eating budge
