Hey, if the bourke is the one dropping the egg then it certainly isn't too early! They are pretty particular about when they will or won't breed and it won't be because you give them a nest box. Mine used to love to breed in the hottest part of the year when the coolest day was 32C. My last pair, the female has just laid an egg and we are in Autumn and the nights are getting cool. Silly girl!
They can lay a small egg at any time. I have had multiple clutch budgies lay eggs the size of a finch - eggs are always infertile for some reason.
One piece of advice my father gave me once when it's coming time for budgie breeding season and you don't want them to breed - divide the cage and put all the males in one side and all the females in the other.

Bourke eggs are on average a similar size to slightly bigger than a budgie's. When I had Turqs they never bred so I don't know what size theirs should be. Do you have boxes for them? Turqs I've been told can get aggro at breeding time so you'll need to separate the Bourkes if you want to breed them.

the bubs were attacked by a non breeding Red Rump hen who wanted the box. I had to put down the youngest as the injuries were too severe to save her. The eldest survived until the 8th day when he died peacefully in his sleep.
