Hi everyone,
Brand new here, and I found you guys after querying eye infections in kakarikis. This is the largest kakariki community outside of kakariki.net I've ever come across! I'm curious about these little guys living in places so far from home, because I think they're really affected by their environment. Steptoe's advice from kak.net is always really comprehensive, but there have been a few instances where he's given advice or commented, and it hasn't been the case - so I really think it's good to have a community sharing their experiences with their little guys (and girls) living abroad!
We're based in Yellowknife, in the Northwest Territories in Canada, where we're just coming out of our awful 'dark days of winter'. We have a red crested kakariki, nearly 3, named Boo, who we rescued from a pet store. There are no avian vets here, so we have a real challenge when he needs care.
He's awesome and we have a lot of fun with him - he's a VERY fast flier, and constantly eats.
Looking forward to chatting with people!
