Just to let you know that back in December my cat got sick. Took her to the vet and he said it was bladder problems. He gave her some antibiotics. They "seemed" to help her. But then she got worse again. Since that vet didn't do any blood tests to make sure, I took her a couple of weeks later to my avian vet. She recommended blood tests, which I was glad about. What she found was leukemia. Chelsea was also extremely anemic -- so much so that the vet almost wasn't able to get blood for the tests. At that point, there wasn't much hope. So, I took her home and she continued to get worse. On February 7th we took her in to the vet one last time. I was holding her as the vet administered the euthanasia. She laid her little head in my hand and just went to sleep. I could actually feel her spirit leave her body. I've had that cat all her life. Ever since she was able to leave her mother. She was at my dad's when she was born so she's always been with family. She would have been 15 on my birthday in April. I miss her so much. She was my other child and she and I had a special relationship. She would actually say Mommy believe it or not. Surprised my hubby when she first said it. This is her just 2 days before she passed. She was so boney and frail.

She may not sit until she lays one or two more eggs. Don't give up hope just yet.

Our electricity went out the other day and it was getting dark outside. So while I had just a little bit of light, I turned on a flashlight and decided to feed birds before it got really dark. Apparently, Lucy doesn't see very well in the dark. She normally hisses or tries to bite. This time, however, when I got close to her cage she actually growled at me. A couple of times. I know I shouldn't have laughed, but I couldn't help myself. It was so cute and it's so good to see her try to protect herself from what she perceives as a preditor.
She has also discovered that she can climb down the back of her cage and get on the windowsill behind it. She just did that today. I heard the click click of her toe nails and then silence. I turned around and couldn't find her on her cage. So I got up to investigate. She had walked along the window sill to the far corner which is hidden behind a chair. She was just sitting there looking at me like "Whaaaaat? I'm not doing anything." I just let her be so she could explore. I just love that this little girl is coming out of her shell.
