Hi gang Sorry not to have been around for a bit (I seem to be saying that a lot lately! Just a quick update ref the Bob-Dog After being on tender-hooks for more than 2 weeks, we finally got some good news All his bloodwork has come back and he definitely doesn't have cancer His spleen was apparently ruptured and haemorhaging into his abdomen, so the op really was life-saving. His tummy is a completely different shape now and he's had his stitches out - he does have rather a large scar, but it all adds to his street cred with the other dogs on the block The only blot on the landscape is that the vets have no idea what is going on with his liver - they know there is something wrong, but in spite of doing dozens of tests they still have no idea what's causing it. We're keeping an eye on him though, and he is eating all fresh food (he eats better than I do!) - Freshly cooked chicken and veg plus vitamins at the moment - ever so slightly spoiled Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and support over the last few weeks - we can't tell you how much it's been appreciated. We really thought that we were going to lose him at one point, and knowing you were all out there rooting for him made a huge difference ps, yes ... I do know that 'rooting' means something totally different in Auz

Quick update on the wee wiggler (aka Bob!) - he perked up quite a bit yesterday, and even managed a quick game of "foot monster!". For the uninitiated foot monster involves an unsuspecting human placing a foot under a rug or dog bed, and Bob pouncing on it and trying to dig it out He went back to the vets today, and they are really pleased with his progress so far. No news on the biopsy r e s u l t s yet, but hopefully by the end of the week. Keep 'em crossed for us guys - all your positive thoughts really seem to be helping and we can't thank you enough - hugs and woofs from Bob

im sorry, but "tinkle spout" did make me laugh! ive never heard of it called that before #norty# lol @ Sal - I though we should keep it cute tis a family show after all eh Quick update on the wee woofer - he's still very poorly, but I guess given the magnitude of what he's just been through that's more than understandable. If he was a people he would probably still be in hospital right now. The worst part is that he's so obviously in a lot of pain, but heart breakingly the vets have said that he can't have any painkillers because of the other problems with his liver We're just letting him take things at his own pace, and watching him like a pack of hawks. At the moment all he wants to do is cuddle into you for comfort. I'm going to just lay on the floor with him tomorrow and snuggle for as long as he wants to - don't have to go to work so he can have my whole day. Seriously though guys - you are an amazing bunch and we appreciate all your kind thoughts so much. Being the greedy mare that I am though, I'd really appreciate it if you could continue to keep him in your thoughts Here are a couple of pics of our wee Angel

Hi everyone - thank you so much for your kind thoughts towards Bob. He came home from the vets at lunch-time, and it's not the best news in the world I'm afraid. He went into the vets yesterday morning, and when they opened him up they found a lump on his spleen (which we're really hoping doesn't turn out to be malignant) as well as quite a bit of bleeding, so they had to remove it straight away. While they were in there they also took another look at his liver, and have found several patches of dark tissue on that as well. They've taken 4 biopsies to see what that shows, but we won't get the results of that for at least another week. He's resting at home now with lots of cuddles, and the customary flower pot on his head (poor little sausage!). He has a slit all the way up his tummy from right in front of his tinkle spout , and it's about 6 inches long (the slit!). He has to go back to the vets on Monday for a check up, so keep your fingers crossed for him. Thanks again for sending those positive thoughts guys - keep 'em coming they really are appreciated. Ellen & Bob

Hi guys - just a quick update on Bob. He'd been doing really well recently & about two weeks ago they finally said that he could come off his prescription food, and go back onto normal dog food. Yesterday afternoon he got very weak and wobbly very suddenly and had to be rushed into the vets. They did blood tests, and had them expressed for same day results. To cut a long story short he has undergone major surgery today and has had to have his spleen removed. They have also taken a liver biopsy, and kept him in hospital overnight. Apparently the biopsy results are going to take at least a week to get back, but we're so scared as we know they wouldn't have removed his spleen if they weren't worried - please, please, please send all your positive thoughts in his direction - he needs every ounce of good karma that he can get right now, and we would be so grateful. I know all dogs are special, but Bob truely is one of those extra special 'one in a million' dogs that everyone loves. I know it's daft, but I just can't seem to stop crying tonight

Thanks Guys - I've told Bob that you're all thinking of him (I know - I'm a soft tart!).
He's got an appointment with the specialist on Wednesday, and will be having a liver scan and a whole pile of blood tests, so hopefully we should know a bit more about what's going on by the end of the week.

We've had some really bad news about our wonderful little dog, Bob, today. He's been very poorly over the weekend with really bad sickness and passing blood from the other end. We thought that we were through the worst of this on Tuesday as he seemed to be settling down well, but on Wednesday evening his tummy swelled up to huge proportions. We consulted with the vets that night and they advised monitoring him until morning, and to take him in if he became lethargic or the swelling increased further. Well we went into the vets today and after a few checks and some expressed bloodwork they have found out that he has a liver problem. I'm so scared for him as he went through a very similar thing about 2 years ago - it caused him to have a serious of very nasty fits that almost looked like strokes and he had to go through a battery of tests. At the end of it all they never did manage to find out the cause of it, and he seemed to have got over it. Sadly it looks to be back and worse than before. At the moment he's really lively and to look at him you honestly wouldn't know that there's too much wrong (apart from his little pot belly of course!). Our vet has always been wonderful with him, and is making an urgent appointment with a specialist for us to see if we can get to the bottom of all this once and for all. I really can't believe that this is happening to him again - he's honestly the kindest, sweetest most loyal little dog in the world (and that's not just because I'm biased) - he just doesn't deserve to be going through this. I'm sorry to waffle on guys, but we would be so grateful if you could spare a few positive thoughts for our little man, as he really is at the heart of our family, and the thought of anything happening to him is just unbearable.
