wow some variety in parrots there. Is that an Umbrella cockatoo? Love her crest. Yes the one with the rattle is Rafiki our male umbrella - he was a rescue bird 10 years ago! Budgiebuddy - The top photo is of our 2 black headed caiques - Jake & Josie - Jake is 15 & Josie 17 this year - so getting on a bit #cheesy# There are still lots of others I could post - we have 38 pet birds indoors although many of them are former rescues that live with us. #cool#

Sounds as though it could be an infection in his airsacs. It is not good when a bird gets breathing problems and often turns out to be aspergillosis. Sadly many of these cases will die and only a few make a full recovery. I hope you have a good vet to take him to, in the meantime keep him as warm as possible.

Actually Jeanne you've answered your own question!! you mentioned getting a chair to get above her - well that's the way to stop dominant behaviour. You must have her lower than your face at all times - then she will realise you are the leader of the pack & not her

Don't be afraid of using hair care products. Make sure you use any sprays etc. in the bathroom (with the door shut!) and your birdies should be O.K. Obviously if you have hairspray or gel on your hair then don't let they preen it for you.

Thought it about time I said my hellos! I did join awhile back but never got round to introducing myself or taking much part in the forum. However from today I will try and turn over a new leaf I am a breeder of various birds here in Norfolk & I am also the first Mum of Biggles - Donna's greencheek! It's lovely to see him settled in his new lifestyle with a wonderful new Mum. We breed & hand-rear various pyrrhura conures (greencheeks/pearly/maroon-belly/crimson belly/bluethroat to name a few ). I am also quite taken to poicephalus and breed senegals/ brownheaded/ Meyers. To top the lot we breed many cockatiels and a few A/Greys. I used to work alongside the rspca in rescuing which is why we have so many Most of our cockatiels are rescued birds and I house them in 2 large flights - most pair up & breed and the odd ones live in the spare flight during breeding season. Just so nice to see the birds happy & relaxed after some of them having a rough time before coming here. Hopefully I will be able to join in chat with you all & try & post some piccies sometime.

WELL! I dont think the birdies would complain at the room they are going to get I wont show my birds that avairy, they would leave home.. dont want to put a damper on your idea, but the bar spacing maybe too big for a conure they will be playing peekaboo with you. and thats speaking from someone, who when she picked up her conure, after going to extreme lengths to make this wonderfull carry cage, her friendly breeder told her so! Sorry if I put the damper on your lovely carry cage Donna, but as you know I do everything I can to help the birdies (& owners) when I can

Hub - I'm sorry to say this but I'm afraid you haven't got things right at all! Had a look at the bird pics & yes we have maroon bellies which I am spoon-feeding at the moment - I still have a couple looking for new homes in approx 4 weeks time. I do not keep yellow-sided - if you looked at my website then you will know which varieties we do keep. I have blue throats, pearlies, painteds & crimson bellies on eggs at the moment. If you are looking to put two birds together then they need to both be babies and either both female or one of each sex. It is O.K. to add a second bird when both are still babies but if one is an older bird it is more difficult unless you get the opposite sex. I have also looked at that cage #evil# - not at all suitable for conures!!!! Pyrrhura conures are not very big and therefore a amassive cage like this one would be a death trap to them, I notice the bars are vertical & they need to be horizontal (at least 2 sides) so the bird can use them as a ladder - conures are always climbing! The bar spacing looks far too great - maximum for small conures should be 5/8" otherwise they can get their heads stuck between them & if you are not there when it happens then you will get back to a dead bird who has died of shock! I assume this cage will have a grille in the bottom, another deathtrap for a conure. I sold a baby to a lady a couple of years ago - she put it into a cage much smaller than yours but it fell of the perch onto the grille below & died!! obviously landed badly. The cage you are looking at is meant for the larger parrots, african greys/amazons upwards............... Also be very careful where you buy your cage...............

Hi Hubbell I notice you live in Middlesex so not too far away from me - I am in south Norfolk. We are conure breeders and will have some hand-reared tame babies available soon (think that's us Scully meant!). I have 2 maroon-bellied conures still looking for a new home in around 4 weeks time. We also have pearly & bluethroat conures on eggs atm. These smaller conures are NOT noisy!! it is only the aratinga group that are loud. Please get in touch if you are interested in reserving anything. Check out my website - www.mkb-birds.co.uk for photos & info

We give them to our lot - not all of the parrots eat them but most do once they get used to the idea. Two of our greys would kill for a chicken thigh bone!! Offer the bigger leg bones only and leave a little meat on. Our greys eat the meat then split the bone the whole length to get the marrow out......and they love it
