Just to put my 2 cents in here. We looked around to get a friend for Robby (rainbow lorikeet)he was plucking and we were thinking he may need a friend. Turned out he was quite sick and has had 2 seizures since then but to make a VERY LONG story short..Robby is doing good by the way. We did a lot of research. You have to be very careful in choosing a friend for a lorikeet. They have a totally different diet than other parrots. Living mainly on nectar and fruit their poop contains bacteria that other parrots can not tolerate. Also Lorikeets should not have a lot of nuts and seeds..mine don't get any so living with a parrot of a different species would not be a good idea. Anyway just wanted to share my findings to you. Didn't want to bud in or anything....I love seeing birds play together but am always afraid of losing the closeness that I have with them.

Why it took us so long to finally put something together was because we were contemplating a 3 season room. But after get quotes and pricing how much it would be to do it ourselves we decided that we probably wouldn't get that back if and when we sold the house. I think the cheapest price was over $40,000.00 so we have now decided to maybe put a roof over it next year and we are putting in a hot tub this year. So who knows if we keep adding to it each year it could be totally enclosed in time ;D

Well stay out of the humidity if that's the case. It was very humid here today as well so I spent very little time out there with them. I also have a play tree set up in the basement for them to enjoy and they get to watch talk, talk no squawk at the same time.. There just a little spoiled.

We actually constructed it out of one of those gazebos and added extra to it to make is sturdy to handle the wire. Has double door that open towards the house and I tie them shut right now because we haven't added the closure to them yet. I think we'll put some magnet closures and maybe a hook to lock when we are out there with them. Here's a picture

Pete and Jimmy are the only 2 of mine that I can have out at the same time. I think the big thing with being owned by more than one bird is knowing your birds personalities. There are times when I can have Benny out in the aviary with them but NEVER without supervision. They prefer company so I sit and read while they're playing. Billy can't be out with any of them because he is totally crazy and for some reason will fly directly at them. Most times when he's out he is pretty much attached to me anyway. I call him my velcro birdie. ;D Benny thinks he's a dog so he is totally bonded to my Jack Russel. I call my house the home of the odd couples

Ohh! Very pretty birdies! I'm new with birds, so i'll try to guess the kinds of birds all of these are. Benny is a congo african grey, Jimmy is a type of kakiriki (don't know how to spell that xD), Pete seems like a cockatoo, Rosy is a lovebird, and Billy is a lorikeet? Pretty good for being new with birds. Jimmy is an orange wing tipped amazon but other than that you got them all right.
