Sweet!!!!!!!!! I like that film too, what about Gracie's last name then Hart?, especially as he's so cute. Other names from the same film Eric, Victor or using the actors real names Michael, Ben. Not from the film but Max is a nice name. I was going to call one of mine Max but since his partner I'd called Sky I was worried they would sound like the name of a satellite TV system! Sky Max!

Oh I love the little pied, 'Good things come in smaller packages' as my mother used to say. Pretty little baby. Any thoughts on names, how about calling her Violet.

Hi Guys You should see the state of Harry just now. He is half way through moulting, has lost both his long tail feathers so is looking a bit out of proportion. Is head that was looking like a cross between a pin cushion and a punk rocker has a single feather out of pin... which sticks straight ahead of him I should feel sorry for him but he looks so funny. Poor birdie. He has been trying his luck with Blue. Now Blue's motto is 'Read my beak shove off!' so I thought Harry was very optimistic to try and chat her up but occasionally Blue will let Harry preen her. He got a chance this morning he was cooing to her very quietly and she went all dozy and let him preen her. Harry isn't too good at preening he nibbles a bit then goes all shy and preens his own chest, then nibbles Blue, then his own chest and so it continues. Bless.. he must be doing OK though as Blue has been seen preening him sometimes. I have taken a pic and will post is asap. Chuckle Billie

Hi Matthaismouse
I had an established cage of 4 budgies when I fell in love with my 5th and Tiny came home. Tiny was in a quarentine cage for about 2 months in the end, we went on hols and didn't want them to fight when we weren't around. Our neighbour popped in a few times a day to look after them.
Well Tiny was VERY young and became tame and it was great I worried when I put him in the big cage with the others that they might fight or stop hm being so tame. He does front it out a bit like 'Oh Mum, I'm with my mates now' kind of thing but if there is a toy or food on offer then its very much a case of 'stuff them' and he's straight on to my hand, they all still sit on my finger, except Blue who was a bit older and never has stepped up but will tolerate me near her.
Good luck I hope it all goes well for you and your birds.

Hi Sal
As long as Button's is backing off when Sherby tells her I'd leave them be, all the time he's happy. If he starts looking distressed like it is getting too much and it's upsetting him dicide what to do then.
It is hard to say if Sherby would pine for Buttons. My pieds Sky and Minty were devoted to each other, but when Tiny went in with them Minty now feeds and chats up anyone who will let him. On the other hand when Taz died Tilly my canary never got over it and they were only in cages next to each other.

Hi Mattaismouse
Yes absolutly this is a good sign, the best thing you can do to get a bird used to you is to spend time with them. Don't stare at them in silence as this would be frightening, just talk quietly and sit near them. I know our neighbour read the paper to our lot while we were on holiday and we leave the radio on if we go out for any length of time so it isn't silent if we aren't around.
Sitting near the cage and talking to her will help her get used to you being close to her, and that you being near isn't a threat and if you keep this going for a while next step is offering fave treat through the bars. The trick is to help her to learn that you bring nice things and aren't dangerous. Build the trust slowly and don't give her reason to be afraid of you. Top tip move slowly around the cage, sudden appearance would scare the life out of her.
Well done this is a big step forwards, just make sure you don't have product on your hair as this may contain chemicals toxic to her.

Hi Bridgetblue Congratulations with Miss Bridget aren't birds wonderful they make you feel a million dollars when they trust you enough to get close like that don't they. It has been over 20 years since I had a bird that was that tame and now my current birds are quite tame but my newest bird Tiny is that trusting he lets me kiss him too he is the first to hop on my hand for a game of ball Birds do tend to copy each other so when he/she sees how much attention Miss Bridget is getting and how she is safe in your hands I'm sure he/she will follow suit. Well done you Thank you for posting such a lovely story. Billie

Hi Mattaismouse
The first budgie I ever had was everso tame and all the others haven't wanted to interact with me until my most recent ones which really were just fledged when I got them.
I gave them a while to settle in their surroundings then offered millet through the bars. My tip is find the thing that the bird really loves, talk to them quietly and offer this faveourite through the bars. Once they are happily coming to you for this treat, move on to slowly taking the treat into the cage and when the bird is feeling safe it should take the food from you there.
Female budgies can be grumpy and stubborn, my girl Blue is both she isn't interested in the others in the cage. Blue has been with me for a year and she will take food from me and take a ball from me to throw. You just have to go withwhat the bird is comfortable with. Just give her lots of love and time and that is all you can do. Either she will become tamer or she won't, they are thinking living beings we can't make them do what they aren't comfortable with and it would be wrong to try and force her to do more as that would make her afraid of you.
Good luck I hope it all works out for you both.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. My gang have the odd go at each other poor Harry tends to be the one on the recieving end even though he is the biggst budgie in there. But if your birds were really hurting each other then for their own safety you did the right thing.
Thinking of you.
