G'day Laura and welcome! In regards to that other forum, unfortunately there are quite a number of forums around that treat their members like that. Instead of offering a firm but kind bit of advice they think it's their right to attack and belittle. If someone doesn't know something, then educate them. Not everyone knows as much as someone else, that's what these boards are to do - offer advice and help, and in times of loss - compassion. When my mum's lovebirds refuse to go back into their cage, we have a 6 inch fish net that we gently scoop them into (once we've worn them out) and then pop back into their cage.

G'day Annie and welcome to Bird Crazy! Canaries, wow I love canaries. So cute. Bourke's! I love them, I breed them too. Have never hand raised one but have heard they can be very nice companions.

Mueb is right, it will be less stressful for the little fellow. Quarantine is usually a good idea for 60 days, however you could take it to a vet and have a full check over which may ease you mind a bit. How about asking the breeder to start putting a harness on while still on a couple feeds a day? That way it will get used to it much faster and will be less stressful on the bird and you. I love conures, such beautiful birds and so funny! You will have a great time with your little one I am sure.

Welcome to Bird Crazy! Budgies have always been my favourite parrot. They are forever entertaining and if you are feeling down they bring you back up again.

Goodbye my friend. You were a very happy little man and gave me plenty of beautiful babies. You gave me Boris who is my Life and I will be forever grateful to you for her. Your favourite things in life were lying in wait to pounce when we opened your cage. Or finger wrestling through the wire, which you always won. You loved your rare treat of bread, your carrots that made your beautiful yellow face stain. Alright, I'll be honest. You loved everything that was food! and some that were not. You were afraid of ants and thought every female budgie was for your personal pleasure. You were an outrageous flirt. You were so handsome that all the girls loved it when you flirted! You were only 5. RIP Jnr Boss: 12 June 2004 - 27 August 2009

I have heard that about Parrotlets. Seems to be a normal behaviour from what I've heard.

Sounds like you have indeed found a new favourite diving place. Paradise on earth (or in ocean in this case). Shame that such an exciting and relaxing day results in pained body. I guess a price must be paid for enjoying oneself. The Oriole is a beautiful bird. Oscar is only name I can think of.
